Founder & Chairperson
Sara Abdullah Pilot is the Chairperson and Co-Founder of CEQUIN, a Delhi based NGO working on empowerment of women and girls, with a special focus on adolescence since 2009. As a Chairperson, Sara’s main role includes planning and strategizing, fundraising, overall programme management, networking and partnership building. She has over 20 years of experience in working with the community at both the grassroot level, management as well as strategy level. Prior to co-founding CEQUIN she has worked with UNIFEM (United Nations Development Fund for Women), specialising in gender budgeting. She was also the Chairperson of the Women’s committee in the All India Football Federation (AIFF) from 2014-2022 and co-founded the National Alliance for Women’s Football in 2018. She has received awards like Women of the Decade in Community Leadership at Women Economic Forum 2019, Indian Women Achievers Award (2013) by Tag Heuer, ASSOCHAM Ladies League Award to Prominent Women in India (2014) which resulted in the Sara Pilot Scholarship by Rai University. Her NGO was recognised for ‘Promoting Gender Diversity through Football’ (2019) by FICCI and was awarded the ‘Best NGO in Football Development’ (2019) by Football Delhi. She has co-edited ‘Fear that Stalks: Gender Based Violence in Public Spaces’, published by Zubaan Books 2012.
Founder & Managing Director
Lora Prabhu is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of the NGO CEQUIN (Centre for Equity and Inclusion). CEQUIN was set up in 2009 and has been doing pioneering work, focusing on gender equity. Prior to this she was associated with the United Nations Development Fund for Women where she worked on the IFAD-UNIFEM Gender Mainstreaming Programme in Asia and the Pacific. Ms Prabhu has over 30 years of work experience, having worked as a researcher, journalist, film maker and development professional.She was selected for the International Visitors Leadership Programme on Global Women’s Issues by the U.S. Government State Department in 2011. She served as a member of the working-group on women’s empowerment for the 12th Five Year Plan of Government of India. She has co-edited ‘Fear that Stalks: Gender Based Violence in Public Spaces’, published by Zubaan Books, 2012. Ms Prabhu served as board member of CBFC from 2011-14. She has been member of Sexual Harassment Committees in public and private sector firms. Her NGO CEQUIN has received several awards and was felicitated by FICCI in 2019.
